RRGU member Elijah Hicks was awarded the T.J Watson Fellowship, a prestigious, year-long grant to conduct independent, meaningful, global research.
His research question was this: “Could a dispersed tourism model work for RRG and Eastern Kentucky?”
His project, titled “Wilderness and Human flourishing,” took him to 85 tourism destinations across eight countries, studying the intersection of community well-being, small-scale tourism, and wilderness preservation.
