ABOUT

Red River Gorge United formed in 2019 as a community response to state-backed plans for a “well-planned modern Gatlinburg” for the Red River Gorge.

Our Story

In contrast to commercial development and outside planning, we are committed to maintaining the ecology, natural beauty, and heritage of the Red River Gorge area by encouraging sustainable economic growth of our residential community, small businesses, and good visitor experiences through land conservation and education.

VISION

We envision a bright future for the Red River Gorge and Eastern Kentucky of regional prosperity and communal and ecological sustainability.

Preserving land through land trusts and conservation easements is an important step in supporting such an outcome.

Land Conservation

Tourism can also be an invaluable tool in pursuing this goal.
