Land Conservation
Land conservation is a critical tool in supporting the biodiversity and wild character of the Red River Gorge.
Why is this place special?
Whether it be the towering old-growth trees, the massive sandstone cliffs, or the verdant valleys full of wildflowers and critters, the Red River Gorge is a place like no other.
The Red River Gorge sits within the Appalachian region, currently identified by global conservation organizations like the Nature Conservancy as a priority conservation area. The biological diversity and outstanding ecological value of this region are unlike any other in the world.
Beyond the Appalachian biosphere, the RRG is an ecological masterpiece. Its unique geography and location give rise to an incredible diversity of species from north and south. Some of these species are found nowhere else in the world.

Land Trust
How can we who treasure the Red River Gorge support the beauty, peace, and wild wonder this one-of-a-kind place has to offer?
An obvious answer emerges: we can collectively buy land. We can preserve the best of the Red River Gorge for everyone, because the Red River Gorge belongs to us all.
That’s why we joined the Land Trust Alliance, an organization with 900+ land trusts across the country, to start Red River Gorge’s first official land trust and make a lasting impact.
We believe that together we can make a real difference for this place that has been so special to us all.
By collectively purchasing land through a land trust, we can make significant strides in furthering the legacy of this incredible place.
Let’s buy land together—forever the Red River Gorge.
